The 52 Caddy makes it up to Frozen Dead Guy Days.
The old hearse ran strong all the way from Fort Collins!
Not bad for a old car that had sat for 20 years in a field in Laramie, Wyoming!
This is a 1952 S&S Cadillac Hearse that I found for sale in the spring of 2009. I was looking for a 2nd hearse to use as a promotional vehicle for our Haunted house event in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Called the Battle Of The Haunted Houses.
So I made a trip to Laramie,WY and took a look at the 52 hearse...the next thing I knew there was a lot of work setting in my garage.

Just needed a little help to make the trip home. A 454 Dually should do the trick.
All in all the old hearse was not that bad it was only missing the fender skirts and landau bars.
Oh .... and a running motor!

Most of the glass was broken and all of the window rubber was shot
The trim was nailed on .......
Yes there was still wood being used in 1952.
The quarter panels and the cap where nailed together
with a 4' long oak strip.
Water had rotted the wood and it all had to be replaced.
On the top of this picure you can see the nail holes.
The Interior was rough and all the pipining around the door was rotted
New piping on the way.
A large amount of work was a complete brake system rebuild.
Maybe it wasn't the most work but the least fun!
Then I called the best auto mechanic I knew....but he was busy!
So I got my old friend Zig to lend me a hand
and we transplanted the 350 chevy into the Cadillac.
A auto Frankenstein is made!
Lot's of room in these old caddys.
The 350 fit like it was made for the caddy....

All it needed was some old school mags and some Grand Am radials.

I added a floor shifter so we could
ROCK THE MIDNIGHT DRAG STRIP!
Working on some creature comforts with new carpet front and back.
My wife doesn't get the flip out DVD player.
How would I watch old Munsters shows without it?
Hot rod creepy cars.... maybe I watched too many TV episodes of the Munsters.
The old hearse needed a mascot so we picked up this guy!
Yes I did find some Landau Bars off a 52 hearse!!

Frozen Dead Guy Days 2011
Getting ready for the hearse parade
in Nederland CO.
Replaced the Edelbrock carb with a
Holley Performance 600 CFM Four Barrel Street Carburetor
and a cool street rod air cleaner
wow what a difference the best money for performance I've ever spent.
2012 came and it was now time to replace the 350 I had installed with a new 300hp 350
The new motor
Need to find some chrome grill parts
So I hit the junkyards, and after 5 stops I did find a 52 with this grill top rail that was perfect!
You really don't see this good of parts for the old caddys in junk yards anymore.
I was Thrilled!
Bumper madness
I did replace the old vaccum wiper setup with a electric windshield wiper motor conversion
This might not seem to be a big deal, but if you have ever enjoyed vaccum wipers
you know how bad they are!
When people say I would like to get a old hearse
I often wonder if they know what they are committing to.
You must have a lot of passion for a car project
the time and money commitment can be large....
but if you stay with it it's a lot of fun
and a great way to meet some unique people!
The job's not done with the 52, but it's on the road
now it's time for the fun part. I will add updates as they happen.
